COVID19 National Emergency

Provided by Eugene Kramer
ESDA Coordinator for Freeburg
The President of the United States has recently addressed the Nation concerning issuing a “National Emergency” as it relates to the COVID-19 virus.  My ESDA office is getting notifications from the IDPH and CDC via a rapid notification system.
This is a Hazardous Health response Notification ONLY.
Please note the attachment , especially the new “term” known as “Social Distancing” as it relates to efforts to reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.  The Illinois Emergency Management Agency in concert with the Illinois Department of Health continue to encourage the understanding on how you can help prevent catching AND spreading the virus.  The biggest concerns for a high threat to life is the age group from 68 years of age and higher, especially as it relates to persons with “underlying” health conditions.
Update information will be provided to you as it becomes available.  The main “new” information to control the spread of the virus is :
1.  It is now mandatory by the Federal Government HHS (Human Health Services) rules that events with 1,000 or more people have been canceled.
2.  Community events with 250 or more RECOMMENDED be canceled or postponed .
3.  Major sports events are canceled.
